Dear Friends

December 20, 2017

Thanks to all of your who supported and voted for me during the previous elections. It has been a privilege and an honor representing the people of Burbank. Drawing on my years of Council experience, I welcome the challenges and tough decisions that lie ahead.

Burbank continues to face historic challenges and opportunities. We must adopt new strategies to energize and renew our City's economy and preserve its character and quality of life. Our Police Department is evolving into a more effective organization and must continue working hard, striving to provide more and better services to ensure the highest levels of public safety. Our new City Manager is working closely with the Council to avoid structural deficits and maintain fiscally accountable and responsible budgeting. Meanwhile, decisions about important new types of housing and business development must be balanced with preserving our excellent city services and peaceful, diverse neighborhoods. We must address continually increasing traffic congestion, not just talk about it. Intentionally under-parking new projects will exacerbate our current parking problems and continue to make the situation worse in the future.

More than ever, we must apply common sense to the hard budgetary choices ahead. Tax dollar giveaways and abandoning neighborhood protections are simply not acceptable. Openness, full transparency and accountability must be the minimum standard. I am more interested in doing what is right for the people than what is politically correct. Decision makers elected to represent your best interests must not ignore adverse project impacts when residential neighborhoods are threatened by oversized, incompatible developments. I will continue to be your voice on the Council and to steadfastly protect Burbank's quality of life and never waver from always putting the people first.

As this new election campaign begins, I ask for your vote so I may fulfill my promise to bring common sense to City Hall. I will continue to ask the hard questions to find answers to the tough problems facing our City. I will never accept the excuse for government inaction that "our hands are tied."

Volunteers wishing to support my re-election campaign, please e-mail me at david_gordon@pacbell.net or call me at (818) 842-2111. There is also a volunteer form on this site. Your support is always welcome, needed, and very much appreciated. No contribution is too small. Together we will go on to win on election day, February 28, 2017.

Finally, I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy, healthy and safe holiday season. My personal holiday message to all.
